Course Description( What is the course all about)
The course will introduce you to the very basics of Tabla playing. Starting from the fundamentals like playing of Syllables or bolbanis, setting the proper fingering, to produce proper sound of these syllables. Next it will move on to playing of simple compositions like Kaydas (Theme variations) along with it the learner would have a basic knowledge of some popular Talas or rhythm cycles of Hindustani music such as Teental, Dadra, Keherwa, Jhanptal, Ektaal and Rupak. Next level would be playing of relatively difficult and intricate compositions such as Kaydas, Relas and Simple Tukdas. Advanced level training would include learning and rendering different challenging compositions such as Kyadas, Relas, Laggi, Lari, Tukda, Chakradaar and so on. Learning of Layakaris. Learning of rhythm cycles and simultaneously Knowledge of Tabla accompaniment with Hindustani classical vocal and instrumental music as well as light music would be introduced.

(iv)Someone who is aiming to become a regular performer or Tabla exponent.
Learning Outcome
On successful completion of this module students should be able to gain sound knowledge of Hindustani Rhythmic System.They will acquire the skill of accompanying with different genres of Hindustani Classical and Light Music,which will enable them to become a successful performers.
Requirements
Fairly good set of Tabla along with necessary accessories like rings, hammer, a fresh copy book, Powder etc.
