Sikha Datta

I Sikha Datta started my musical career when I was only 5 years old. I had a teacher who gave me a first lesson of singing. Then I was admitted to Banichakra, an institution where I was taught songs by Dinenedra Choudhury,then a prominent singer Ashok Roy who happen to be a prominent music composer, Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay who needs no introduction as long as Bengali song would in existence. He would also be remembered by all music lovers. Then I went to Nirjharini, another music teaching institution situated in Darjipara in Kolkata. I also taught by Smt. Basanti Shukla who happens to be the daughter of Pt. Harihar Shukla & younger sister of smt. Haimanti Shulkla. Afterwards I got married and went to Asansol where my husband had been working in State Bank of India. After marriage I did not stop taking tuition of singing. I was taught by Smt. Mandira Chatterjee (Pratihar) a prominent music teacher of that locality. Afterwards I came to Burdwan where I decided to learn Tabla playing from Shuvendu Banerjee alongside my regular music learning from Kalyan Banerjee, another prominent singer of Burdwan town. Afterwards I came to Kolkata again I then got the contact of Sri Bimaan Mukhopadhyay & Manoj Roy who was very popular teacher of Beleghata locality. Thereafter I took further lesson of Tabla playing from Sri Prashanta Chatterjee who was very close to a famous singer Sri Arghya Sen. Then I was interested to learn playing keyboard. I got teaching from Samir Mukherjee & Prasanta Banerjee I have been continuing it for 5 years. It is mention worthy that I had been continuously engaged in teaching others of different ages. Lastly I reached Bangalore where I started teaching students along with overseas students mainly in Usa & China.
